Having said that, I couldn't get this to work on a couple of random gpx traces I downloaded from OpenStreetMap (ogrinfo didn't like them either, although QGIS loaded them). But I was able to open GPX files from another source. Try running. ogrinfo example.gpx tracks and see if you get any useful output. If you get a list of drivers, it's failed. GPS Visualizer is an online utility that creates maps and profiles from geographic data. It is free and easy to use, yet powerful and extremely customizable. Input can be in the form of GPS data (tracks and waypoints), driving routes, street addresses, or simple coordinates. Follow. In Gaia GPS, you will find imported and recorded trails filed into two categories: Tracks and Routes. Routes are pre-defined and created manually using the website or the app. Tracks are breadcrumb trails, made up of GPS points collected by your device while physically following a trail. Use a route to plan where to go before you leave.
BC is a database type file. There can only be ONE waypoint or track or route with the same name. MS allows the waypoints with the same name to be placed in different folders. BC STORES all the waypoints in the same folder. It may list the waypoint in different list or list folders, but there is only ONE waypoint with that name stored on the
Thanks for the reply. Examining the file in Notepad shows that the kml paths are converted to GPX polylines and not tracks. I don't know how to force the conversion to tracks. I've also been playing around with the demo version of ExpertGPS which does convert kmz and kml files into GPX and they display correctly on that PC app.
With the waypoints, you can navigate from one to the next in the field, but you do have to know the correct order. The "real" way to do this is to bring up the map at explore.garmin.com so you can visualize the waypoints. Involves making both waypoints (in the Library) and the specific collection containing the waypoints visible on the map.

Simply put, there is no way to convert track-points to way-points in BaseCamp. Nor can one name them identically since BaseCamp uses the name as its index; same name, same waypoint. You can certainly store both way-points and track-points in the same GPX file but I do not recall being able to export CSV files from BaseCamp.
