The whole argument against it being soley a VR game is terrible in the first place. The inputs for a VR game can be entirley different than flat, so the work and cutdowns needed to allow it to run on both flat and VR either means an unreasonable amount of work basically making two different games, or a huge cut back in VR features to allow it to run in ways without too much difference.
Valve has problem with walled gardens but it's superseeded by their desire to make VR viable. They know Playstation can make Alyx accesible to a much bigger audience. I think chances of Alyx coming to PSVR2 are better than 50-50. Edit: Maybe totally unrelated but if Alyx were to become a success on PSVR2 then that get us closer to Half-life 3.
